Christmas Day

Writer: Rev ClaireRev Claire

Happy Christmas! Welcome to our service today which is a repeat of our live zoom service at 10.30am. You are welcome to join us on zoom - the link is here

As we gather today we remember the many people for whom Christmas is not what they expected it to be this year. We pray for people missing families, for people in isolation, for people who are ill, for people on their own. We particularly remember those whom this Christmas is the first without loved ones.

If you have been following Mary and Joseph during advent here is the latest and final part of their story

Christmas reminds us that despite all we are going through there is hope, there is light, there is more. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus in this strange year, we look ahead with hope.

Worship

Lighting of the Candles

How beautiful on the mountains

are the feet of those who bring good news,

who proclaim peace,

who bring good tidings,

who proclaim salvation,

who say to Zion,

“Your God reigns!”

Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices;

together they shout for joy.

When the Lord returns to Zion,

they will see it with their own eyes.

Burst into songs of joy together,

you ruins of Jerusalem,

for the Lord has comforted his people,

he has redeemed Jerusalem.

The Lord will lay bare his holy arm

in the sight of all the nations,

and all the ends of the earth will see

the salvation of our God. Isaiah 52:7-10

Some songs to celebrate the birth of Jesus as we begin our worship

Today we should have finished our nativity scenes. If you haven't been colouring and cutting out yet here are the templates for you to do so.... today it is Jesus in the manger!

Have a watch of this video for the next bit of the story

Listen to these words from John 1:1-14

Ding Dong Merrily on High!

Listen to Claire's talk. You might want to pause between the stockings to reflect as guided.....

Have a read of the story of the birth of Christ before our final carol in Luke 2:1-7 which can be found here

Finish with this song of peace
